Indication

Ulesfia™ Lotion is indicated for the topical treatment of head lice infestation in patients 6 months of age and older

Ovide®(malathion) Lotion, 0.5% is indicated for patients infected with pediculosis humanus capititis (head lice and their ova) for the scalp hair

Use: treats head lice

Do not use:

  • On children under 2 months of age
  • Near the eyes
  • Inside the nose, ear, mouth or vagina
  • On lice in eyebrows or eyelashes

Lindane Shampoo is indicated for the treatment of head lice, crab lice, and their ova only in patients who cannot tolerate other approved therapies, or have failed treatment with other approved therapies.

Lindane shampoo is mainly for adults and children who weigh at least 110 pounds .

Lindane Shampoo should be used in the context of an overall lice management program.

 

Features of Use
  • Apply to hair in amount sufficient to thoroughly wet hair and scalp.
  • Leave on for 10 minutes; thoroughly rinse off with water.
  • Repeat treatment after 7 days.

 

 

  • Apply to dry hair in amount sufficient to thoroughly wet hair and scalp.
  • Allow to dry naturally, uncovered (leave on for 8-12 hours).
  • Shampoo and rinse.
  • If lice are still present after 7-9 days, repeat with a second application of Ovide®(malathion) Lotion, 0.5%.

 

 

  • Wash hair with a shampoo without conditioner. Do not use a shampoo that contains a conditioner or a conditioner alone since this may decrease the activity of Nix®.
  • Rinse with water
  • Towel dry hair so it is damp but not wet
  • Shake the bottle of Nix® well
  • Completely saturate the hair and scalp with Nix®. Begin to apply Nix® behind the ears and at the back of the neck.
  • Keep out of the eyes. Protect the eyes with a washcloth or towel.
  • Leave Nix® on the hair for 10 minutes but no longer.
  • Rinse with warm water.
  • Towel dry hair and comb out tangles.
  • If live lice are seen seven days or more after the first treatment, a second treatment should be given.
  • Apply to dry hair
  • Let set for 10 minutes
  • Wash out
  • Comb out
  • Repeat in 7-10 days

IMPORTANT: Consult the Lindane Shampoo Medication Guide which must be given to the patient each time LINDANE Shampoo is dispensed as required by law.

Caregivers applying this product to patients should wear gloves less permeable to Lindane such as nitrile, latex with neoprene or sheer vinyl, and thoroughly clean hands after application. Natural latex gloves should be avoided because they are more permeable to Lindane.
